One teacher taught me how to borrow the books from a public library. I love him.
I love reading books, too. ☼

Oh, so you had two influences then.  What did the grade school teacher do that influenced you?  If you want to share, I mean.  Thanks for the input.

Honestly, she was just a school specialist. I was homeschooled and in Florida it is common for homeschoolers to be reviewed by specialists. She knew my personality, learning style, cognitive level, etc. It was impressive and she was a good friend.

I was nine- almost 50 years ago now -and we had a supply teacher for two terms. i can see her now- auburn hair and lots of big pale freckles and big glasses. At the end of each school day, all the books were put away and she read  Tolkien's 'Hobbit' to us before home time.. She was one of those people who could read well, not just woodenly and  she did all the voices for the characters. I was enthralled and lived for those story times.
Five years later at senior school, I discovered, quite by accident, 'The Lord of the Rings', because of knowing 'The Hobbit'.

Mrs Atherton started in me what became a life long passion for reading in general, and Tolkein in  particular. I have most of his books, his biography, plates and all the films. My children know and love the stories too, and my older grand daughter (nearly 10) is growing  to love them.

That teacher was one very special inspiring lady
