It's being used more and more with even young kids. Our middle school for example allows the kids to carry tablets and devices to class where they are able to access certain specific resources. Also, all of the parent communications are done online. My sons class has a twitter account, a website and even some of their texts are also available online so they can't use the "I forgot my book" excuse . Grades are updated on a regular basis and are sent automatically each day to the parents - so no more faking grades either . It's harder to get away with stuff as a kid in the modern era for sure.
I have awesome and terrifichub just about this technology in the classroom. Check it out.
