Officially WW2 ended Sept the 2nd 1945 aboard the USS Missouri when the last Axis power Japan signed surrender papers. Unofficially it could said to have ended when the last Japanese soldier hiding out, one Hiroo Onoda, was coaxed out of a Philippine jungle almost 30 years after the war's end. There are rumors of even more very aged Japanese soldiers still hiding out in the Philippines.
The US signed the official peace treaty with Germany in 1990. The USSR never officially ended the war.
