Help! I am writing a DIY. I need to know how to figure out how many 9"x9" is in 20"x90".

I am not good at this type of math and would appreciate the formula for determining how many 20" by 90" of Misty Fuse I need to make 12 - 9"x9".

    A 20" x 90" piece of fabric can make 18 9" x 9" pieces. The way it is done is divide the 90" length by 9", which equals 10. Then divide the 20" by 9", which equals 2 with 2" left over. Multiply 2 x 9 = 18.

A consideration is if it has to be exactly 9". When doing the squares along the length the width of the scissor cut will cause the last square to be a 'little less' than 9". But, you only need 12, so there will be plenty to choose from.

      The correct answer is 20. It's 10x2, not 9x2.

Lisa, but still there will be at least 12 - 9x9, right? #mathismyblindspot
