What makes people afraid of their own power?  Why don't people owe their power?  What makes people followers instead of individualists?   Are people THAT FEARFUL of recognizing & cultivating their GREATNESS?   Why do people constantly & willingly give their power away?  Are people really afraid of being authentic adults who own their power gladly?  How can we raise children to be POWERFUL adults?

Freedom within boundaries is a very subtle feature of the art and science of child-raising. I have spoken about it so often to deaf ears, I am weary of discussing it. I should not be weary though.
      But I am.

      Fear of confrontation.

How does this fear develop? Are we born with it?
I would say No, seeing how young children, especially two year olds, will put up such a fuss at any injustice thrown their way.

Humans are born with fear of falling and loud sounds. All other fears are learnt.

A child is destined to become a very powerful, creative and amazing individual. However, adults/parents/teachers unknowingly gradually diminish the power and self-actualization of a child. They coddle. They cater. They force. They bombard. They are not sensitive to the spirit which is trying to develop it's own psyche from 0 to 6 years of age.

And then, before the psyche is even fully formed, parents are required to hand their children over to teachers who teach many children. These teachers resort to forcing all their students to learn and practice the same skills and subjects at the same time. The teachers force the children to learn in a particular way, usually, a left brained way. But, what if one of the children is right-brained learner? And what about the curiosity, interest and intrinsic motivation of all children? No, most teachers do not have the luxury of focusing on these inner and individual motivations. What if a child needs more time to work in a concrete way before moving on to the abstract aspects of a topic such as arithmetic? What if a child needs to express himself creatively and actively rather than passively? What about the fact that boys need to move and be active more so than girls? and have different tendencies and learning styles? No, they are given Ritalin or Adderall to sit as quietly as young girls do.

Well, you can see what I am up against.

Exactly.   People are raised or rather indoctrinated to be lemmings.  In fact, conformity is deemed much easier for authority figures than to encourage/nurture individuality.  In essence, conformity is easier & more manageable.   Children who conform are viewed more favorably than children who are individualists who are considered difficult, unmanageable, hardheaded, & other negative characteristics.

Most people don't live their own lives but lives prescribed to them by others whether it is religious authorities, parents, teachers, & other adult figures.  Conformity & following those w/the most power start early.   Children aren't taught to think & decipher for themselves but to OBEY.  Obedient children are more malleable societally.  They can be easily indoctrinated.   Individualistic/independent children can be seen as quite noisome.  Society want sheep who can be molded into the societal image.

So, if you create an environment where a child can learn on his own, the child will thrive.
A child needs the liberty to teach himself and work with materials which will stimulate his senses and his mind. Boundaries are required, however. Freedom without boundaries leads to chaos. Boundaries allow freedom.

Who discovered this method of teaching children? Maria Montessori.
She developed all sorts of materials called didactic teaching materials. She taught her students how to use the materials. Through using them properly, children teach themselves how to read, write and do arithmetic. They also learn geography, biology, music and art.

In fact, Montessori discovered that children love to learn how to write, do math and read. Fish have fins and children have brains.

She also discovered that children love to please the teacher. Teachers, therefore do not have to force children to learn or force them to be obedient.

    Repeating:
Children naturally want to please the adult in charge and naturally love to learn.

Today parents and teachers put too much pressure on their children. They have forgotten that a happy child becomes a mentally stable and physically robust child.
And a happy child has lots of freedom.

Montessori also advocates an abundance of outdoor time. The Waldorf schools feature a lot of outside activities. Ideally, children need to be working with plants, flowers and seeds in gardens. They need to be observing bees, birds and skies. They need to splash in mud puddles, and hike in mountains. They need to swim in lakes and pools and they need to ride bikes, rollerblades and skateboards. They need to surf, they need to sail, they need to row boats. They need to fish, they need to sing, they need to paint. They need to feel the joy of life and not be forced to learn according to COMMON CORE TESTING.

You are quite welcome.  It is good to discuss deep topics.  The sociopolitical same old topics are becoming quite old if you know what I mean.

I get so deep about Ecocide. Many people fall off, online. Some brains fall out and some fall off the planet.

We, as a race (human), are, however, very prone to obedience and compliance. People naturally will do what is done around them. They behave according to what is expected of them, for the most part.
In my generation we rebelled. Some/many in my generation have lived long enough to be rebelling still to this day, more quietly now, and in our own ways.  Others don't notice. Nor do they benefit.
    Sadly.

Our own children resist and tell us to mind our own business.
      So, we do ... nowadays.
      - fine by me! smile
