The World is Built on Layers of Information

    I used to think of the world in terms of a single layer of information — as if it is direct and directly accessible. But the world is built on multiple layers of information. How many layers are there — I do not know — because I have not been always around.

    Let's say YouTube loses all video data tomorrow. All YouTube videos are gone permanently. But the memory of the YouTube videos that we've watched — will remain and linger in our collective psyche.

    Then, a new videos service will be launched. That — too — will lose all its video data. Then another one will appear. This is how the world operates.
