Although a little slow to start, this English drama, staring Gary Daniels;Stephen Elliott;Ben Shockley;Kate Thuriwell, is very "Proper". I'm not an avid fan of English drama, but I did get into this movie as it progressed. The main character is a detective (Gary Daniels) and he has a partner (Steven Elliot). An 11 year old girl ,Dallas, disappears and the Detective begins having visions of the missing girl. At first, they think that they know who is the killer-a serial killer at that-but they soon realize that it is much bigger than that.
The missing girl's parents are well-know public figures; her dad is a professional race car driver and her mother is the star in a television show. Both parents are very snobby and don't show the usual behavior of that of parents who just lost their child; their careers take precedence over everything.
One point of interest is that the only Black person in this film..His name is, "Mr. Blacksmith". Now I am not calling this production racist, but you have to wonder...
The detective has many strange dreams and premonitions and soon links several other disappearances to this case. There are a few suspects including a man that allegedly did commit other crimes but there was never enough evidence to convict him.
At the end, we find out that Dallas's father is responsible for not only her death, but also the death of other local children. This is a relatively long movie and even though it tends to be dry, the visions of the detective and his dreams definitely hold the movie together. I would liken this movie to the British Broadcast Corporation (BBC) in reference to its English Proper, but the country scenes are worth dreaming about.
