Horror Movie Reviews Jennifers Body

Updated on July 12, 2014

Jennifers Body

Jennifer's Body was a fun film, although not as good as I originally thought it would be as there were some black comedy elements that were ok, but they missed the mark as this movie didn't really know what it was, straight horror or horror comedy. The movie itself wasn't a total write off as it had the sexy Megan Fox in it as Jennifer.

In the beginning it's Needy who we see in a mental hospital, apparently telling the story of what happened to her and her best friend...

The story revolves around two best friends Jennifer and Needy who get on well despite the two differences in social groups in school, the two go to see a band called Low Shoulder at a dirty filthy bar, but the band members want fame and fortune and they are prepared to kill to please the devil in return for money and fame and so they get Jennifer and recite a daft sacrifice ritual they found on the Internet and kill Jennifer, but Jennifer needed to be a virgin for it to work properly and she wasn't and so she comes back to life possessed by a demon who likes to eat boys.

Now I reckon the body count should have been higher in this film and maybe more attention on the demonic powers, but all do a fairly good show of it as a few are killed and their guts eaten. It soon dawns on her best friend Needy that she must be stopped as she is evil and possessed by a demon.

As I mentioned before, I did like this film but I thought there was something missing from it, but I don't really know what, maybe it did need to add a few more kills to the story as it underplayed that I think and at the end I thought it would have been nice for Needy to get her own back on the band members in a nice touch of revenge instead of the credit rolling flash picture sequence.

A good film, but not as good as it should have been, sometimes you see a movie trailer and you think yeah, that looks good and it turns out that it wasn't spectacular and that's the way I felt with this film. The only thing that holds it together is the story of friends between Megan Foxs Character and Needy played by Amanda Seyfried.

Good review buddy, I was going to rent this film last weekend but didn't. Perhaps I'll redbox this one. Thanks for the insights.
