Maids when your young!

The most beautiful 17 ever!

The Emerald Isle is famous for many things like their Patron Saint and of course a culture very rich in music. Irish music of all types is beautiful, but there is just something about that folk music! Whether lead by the steel whistle, fiddle, harp, or bag pipes, so many Irish songs are endured year round all over the world. Here in America, we usually don't hear that much of it until March of every year, unfortunately.

Those I hated to leave out-The Leader Of The Band- An old Irish party song about a guy named Mc Namara. Peggy Lettermore- Usually played and sang fast, you have to pay attention to catch the lyrics. This is so upbeat and happy!

Most of these were aced by the Dubliners, Sean Kelly, The Pougues, The Furies and others.

I hope you enjoy and don't think I've been kissing the Blarney a bit!

17. Kiss Me I'm Irish- I think the title says it all!

16. Harrigan, that's me!- The song about the name that a shame never can be connected with! Easy to sing and remember, this one is.

15.The Leprechaun Song- Kind of a silly tale with a nice tune. Even Ireland likes it's novelties.

14. Galway Girl- This one is pretty and often sang in pubs.

13. The Rifles of The I.R.A.- No, I am not going political or condoning anything at all! I just happen to like this beat and the song itself.

12. Whiskey In The Jar- Not the most up beat Irish tune but it is very catchy!

11. Lord of the Dance- This had a smooth beat and a surprising message for all who chose to hear it.

10. The Land I Love So Well- A nice to tribute to the Green Land of Europe.

9. Sweet Rosie O'Grady- A fun Irish love song that is a favorite all over the world.

8. Maids, When You're Young- A warning to all lasses, young and old. The Irish are such devils aren't they?

7. It's a Long Way To Tipperary- We off to see Mary, the sweetest girl since Rosie O'Grady.

6. Black Velvet Band- The sad story with the happy tune. It gives a warning that all lads should heed!

5.No, Nay, Never, No More aka The Wild Rover- An old Irish Pub song. Not the best known, but a lot of fun to listen and sing along too!

4. Danny Boy- An old folk song that many call an Opera tune. It isn't but, Anthony Kearns and the other Irish Tenors do such a nice version of it!

3. My Wild Irish Rose- Easy to play on the piano and of course, so much fun to sing!

2. When Irish Eyes Are smiling- This is so beautiful and of course so true!

Many will think that 2, 3, or 4 should be number 1, but this is a list of the best, not the best known. I just happened to think the this next one slightly edged out the rest. Listen to it and see if you agree.

All the way from Belfast!

1. The Belle Of Belfast City (I'll tell me ma)- I love this old jig tune , that is a favorite in so many Irish Pubs! Listen to this and tell me it does make you want to jig the night away.

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His mighty hand.
