N.W.A

N.W.A (meaning Niggaz Wit Attitudes) was an American rap group from Los Angeles and Compton, California, founded by Eazy-E and Ruthless Records. Members of the group consisted of Eazy-E, Dr. Dre, MC Yella, Ice Cube and DJ Ren. Rapper, Arabian Prince was also a member of the group for a short period of time. N.W.A is known as one of the most important groups in hip hop because technically, they started gangsta rap. Due to there explicit lyrics, they were banned from most mainstream radio stations and the group encountered much controversy.

In 1988, N.W.A changed the world of hip hop when they released there debut album, Straight Outta Compton. This was the first album to adhere to the Parental Advisory laws due to its explicit content. The album featured many hits such as, "Straight Outta Compton", "Gangsta Gangsta" and "Fuck The Police". One month later, the album, Eazy-Duz-It was released. The album was performed by Eazy-E but was actually a group effort. Dr. Dre and DJ Yella did most of the producing. MC Ren and Ice Cube wrote most of the lyrics while Eazy-E did most of the performing.

In 1989, Ice Cube left the group over royalty disagreements. He wrote half of the lyrics for the album, Straight Outta Compton and felt he was not getting his fair share of the profits. Ice Cube quickly released his own solo album titles AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted. Although he did not mention any members of his former crew, N.W.A went on to diss Ice Cube over various tracks. Ice Cube retaliated on his second album, Death Certificate. Most of the tension in the group came from the group manager, Jerry Heller. He was accused of splitting up the group and was the target of many verbal attacks.

In 1991, N.W.A released their final album, Niggaz4Life. Dr. Dre soon left N.W.A to join the newly formed Death Row Records due to allegations that Eazy-E refused to release Dre's contract and planned to keep a portion of the publishing rights. Dre would then send verbal shots at Eazy-E over various records. Eazy-E retaliated accusing Dr. Dre of homosexuality. This marked the end of N.W.A.

After Eazy-E's death in 1995, all conflicts between the group members ceased. Dr. Dre, Ice Cube and MC Ren would later collaborate with one another on multiple records and albums. They even pays their condolences to the late Eazy-E on future tracks.
