What is the term for a television show that isn't a sitcom, but focuses on an ongoing narrative?

In a sitcom (Example: Friends), the characters never change and the episodes are structured similarly. How would you explain a show like "LOST" where the story is one continuous storyline? Would is be a serialized drama?

Or shows like CSI and Law & Order, which often have long story arcs for the main characters, but are focused on how crimes are solved. Those shows are called procedurals.
