the book Beowulf is like a god, while in the movie he is just a man. Grendel in the movie is a troll who wants revenge for the death of his father, who they killed because he took a fish from the Danes. While in the book he is a blood thirsty monster.

In the movie Grendel mother lives in the water and try’s to take men while they boat are in the water. In the book she doesn’t show up till Grendel is killed.

In the movie Grendel is more human to, while in book he is just a evil demon. While the Geats are in the mead hall Grendel doesn’t attack them till the third time. He doesn’t want to kill them because they didn’t wrong him. In the book the first night they are in there he come up to one and kills him and eat his head. Then he goes up to Beowulf and Beowulf grabs him and starts beaten Grendel up, while he is naked ( he fights Grendel naked to make it far and show that he fights fair).

In the movie Grendel breaks down the door, the Geats charge him and he throws them around. Then Grendel kills the one who wronged him then try’s to run away, but Beowulf chases him and gets a rope around his arm. Thus Grendel jumps out of the building, but then he is hanging in midair so he cuts off his own arm.

In the book they fight Beowulf grabs his arm and rips it off. In the movie Grendel has a kid with a witch.

In the book he has no son. In the book there is a dragon, while in the movie there is none at all. In the book Beowulf becomes king. In the movie he doesn’t become a king.

In the book Grendel doesn’t kill other people while the Geats are in the town, while in the movie he kills Danes while the Geats are sleeping. There is a priest in the Movie who baptizes the Danish king, while the novel mentions no priest.

The book version of the mother is not described as looking like Angelina Jolie.
