How often do you go to the movies?

With Youtube and DVD's and cable and internet viewing I wonder how many people still go to the movies.  I love to go to the movies.

I still love going to the movies. I try to every week, but I go at least once a month.

I used to love going to the movies. Last year I went every week. However now I rarely go, mostly because of the rising prices. I would love to go more though.

It really depends on what is playing. Some movies have the best impact if seen on a big screen. On average I see 1-2 movies a month. Some months I don't see any and others I may see up to 3-4.
From the time I was a child I fell in love with the movie going experience. Of course this was way before there were cinimaplexs. Back then the movies were shown in super large theaters, chandeliers hung from the celing, carpet in the ailes were three inches deep, butter popcorn was to die for, and ushers escorted you to a seat with a flashlight if you arrived when the lights were low. Being a kid you always wanted to sit in the first row...etc ( We also had "double features" with a cartoon)LOL!
Naturally those days are gone and never will return. However there a few new theatre chains popping up to improve the movie going experience. One such chain is iPic theatres. They have large reclining chairs, blankets, pillows,  the wait staff brings you (real food) and alcohol drinks from the bar. After the movie you can sit by the fireplace in the lobby, shoot pool, or sit at the bar for cocktails. They've actually made going to the movies a "complete dating" experience.
I'll never understand how anyone enjoys watching a movie on a cell phone, laptop, or iPad. When I'm at home watching a movie there is always a chance of being interrupted by a phone call, a knock at the door, or some other distraction. I tend to give a movie my full attention when I go to the theatre. I can't imagine never going to the movies.

I'm a film buff and I watch lots of movies, but haven't set foot in a movie theatre since 2007 and I'm in no hurry to go again anytime soon.

Thanks for all your replies. I am going to see The Iron Lady when it comes out on January 13th. Love Meryl Streep.
