Indeed, I do that all the time!! My wife is an early-to-bed type and I'm a night owl so I'll usually put a movie on after she goes up to bed. I've seen countless scary movies while alone.

Yes. I've watched horror/scary movies alone. However I think the older one becomes the less scared they are when it comes to watching movies. This is especially true of movies that feature monsters or ghosts. Sure there may be the occasional (loud phone ring) or a character popping up out of no where that might make a person jump.
However a truly scary movie would be one that causes you to double check your door locks before going to bed (assuming you can get some sleep). The older we become the less impressionable our minds are. In order to scare most people you'd have show a movie that is rooted in reality (serial killers, fatal attractions, or psychotic neighbors.) Even then most people are more afraid of being laid off or having the value of their homes be worth less than what they owe on it. :-)

Loads of times! At the end of the day it's only a film!

At home, sure all the time.  My kids are grown and my husband doesn't like scary movies so it is just me and a diet Dr. Pepper for the entire movie - but truthfully, I like to watch them in the day time.

YES!  I saw "Paranormal Activity," alone, at a theatre.  That movie did not scare me one bit.

However, another movie I saw, alone, in a theatre (I think I may have been the only one because it was a matinee) was "The Strangers."  That movie REALLY gave me the creeps.  Very frightening moments.

What bothered me most about this movie is that it was based on TRUE EVENTS, something that really happened.

I am an avid movie lover.  I have seen many films that I can hardly remember what happened.  However, I have never forgotten "The Strangers."  Scared the life out of me!

    Blessings, Sparklea

I don't prefer to watch scary movies alone, part of the joy in watching a scary movie is being scared. It is always fun to have someone else with you so you can see them get scared too.

I have watched scary movies alone. Sometimes you just have to.
