I like that you left this question open for more than one band. If I had to choose some favorites, they would include: Led Zeppelin, Iron Maiden, Nightwish, Death, Nirvana, Megadeth, Insomnium, Eluveitie, Ensiferum, Amorphis, and Dream Theater. But I like many more bands than just those.
Being an, ahem, older musician, The Beatles have always been number one. Steely Dan would be number two. Like the fact that their lyrics had very little to do with love and women. They wrote about drug deals, Timothy Leary, suicide, etc. Also, they worked with some of the best studio musicians ever: Larry Carlton, Steve Gadd, even Rick Derringer. Just a great, great band.
Heldon, Magma, King Crimson. If I'm in an odd mood, then the Flying Burrito Brothers. I also like National Health, Matching Mole and Hatfield and the North.
I have tons of "favorites" and my answer often depends on what day you ask me, but at the moment...
the Ramones, Megadeth, Raven, Savatage, Iron Maiden, Warrior Soul, and Overkill...just to name a few.
I have tons of bands I follow and appreciate. Green Day got me into music when I was 8 years old with their 1994 album "Dookie". Mars Volta, Led Zeppelin, The Supremes, Beach Boys, I listen to a lot of stuff.
I am actually a hardcore rocker girl myself. I love heavy metalvand hard alternative rock. Some of my favorites are Korn, Slipknot, Disturb, and Three Days Grace. I also enjoy listening to Passion Pit, Matt and Kim and Mumford & Sons.
I have so many. I love good music. I think middle eastern, Indian and Pakistani music is off the hook. I want to see more collaboration. I think Tower Of Power is a good band who did not just prserve the "Big Band Sound". They made it relevant in a new time period. may I Indulge?
The Sex Pistols, The Clash, Green Day and The Beatles. I absolutely love the sound of good rock and classic punk. Today's music artists should be ashamed of themselves. Not all, but people like Lil Wayne and Ke$ha for example. Todays rap music is almost pathetic.
I love the 60 and 70's music.. there are so many bands.
Seether, Slipknot, Disturbed, Stone Sour, Twiztid, Korn, 3 Doors Down, and a ton of others.

What is your favourite band and why?

This is a question that I have been asked many times. I say the answer has a lot to do with the band itself. Like with a lot of things, every band is different. I would like to ask what are your viewpoints and answers to this question.

Do you even remember when you first heard them? What was your reaction? There are several bands I now love that I thought less highly of when I first heard their music. However, there are also many bands that I immediately fell in love with upon hearing their work. What about all of you?

What made "Earth, Wind, and Fire" one of (if not the best) R&B/Funk bands of all time? The founder of EWF, Maurice White, passed away yesterday. What a loss of a genius music maker. What was it about him and the band that made them so awesome? What are your favorite songs?

Which is your favorite heavy metal band and why?

And I'm not talking your run-of-the-mill top 40 cover band or the same-old-shitty sound bands. I'm talking legitimate unique bands, especially one like mine where we blend folk music with modern acoustic rock...it just doesn't exist in America, certainly not in SC. Why then is it so rough to make...
