What is your favorite non-animated kids movie?

For the record, mine is The Goonies. Gotta love the truffle shuffle!

Yeah the Goonies or Howard the Duck!

Howard the Duck is on a lot of worst movie lists, and I don't understand why. It was awesome!

Mine is Hook, the Peter Pan sequel. I'll still watch it when it's on.

if you like family-style movies, you'll love it.  it's a b/w Disney film.

I know it's cheesy, but Matilda.  I was (and still am) a huge bibliophile as a kid, so I could completely relate to her.  Plus I always wanted to have a house like the cute cottage Miss Honey had... not to mention the totally awesome superpowers smile

I don't know Matilda. But since you recommend her so highly, I will watch the movie!

Mine is Newsies. For some reason, no one has ever really seen that movie though! It is one of Christian Bale's first films, and it's a live-action Disney musical.

Interestingly enough, it is the lowest-grossing live action Disney film of all time. It was directed by Kenny Ortega, who is also the films choreographer. He went on to also direct Disney's highest-grossing live action film, which was also a franchise: High School Musical.

I've never seen Newsies. Except for Moulin Rouge, I really don't dig musicals. I will put it on my Netflix list, though.

I'm going to be "that girl" and say that I do not have a favorite! A couple that are not listed here could be Major Payne, The Pacifier, Does Labyrinth count? What about the Muppets?! I love me some Muppet movies!

I'm not sure I'd consider Major Payne a kid's movie. It has kids in it, but it's PG-13 and a little raunchier than I would, personally, consider a "children's" movie to be. Older kids, I guess. Still funny, though!

When most people think of kids movies, animated features are the first to come to mind. But older children sometime seem to find animated fare a little unsophisticated. This article takes a look at twelve films that the whole family can enjoy. read more
