I like things that are cheerful, really get you moving. That's uplifting to me, though I'm not sure if its the definition you are using. At any rate, the best example I can think of right now would be Don't Bring Me Down, by ELO. I also like Don't Stop Me Now, by Queen and Gotta Give it Up by Marvin Gaye. There are many songs that put me in a good mood, but these are good examples.

There are many songs that are uplifting. I can think of some, which are: "You Light Up My Life" by Debbie Boone, "We Are The World", "Joy TO The World' by Three Dog Night, and there are songs by "The Carpenters" that are good. The Monkees' song, "Going To Buy Me A Dog" is a good song that is uplifting and fun to listen to.

Nightwish- Wishmaster, so happy and uplifting that it's ridiculous.
Blind Guardian- Mirror Mirror, similar to the previous song; perhaps a little more serious.
Nirvana- In Bloom, all Nirvana songs have a happy vibe to them.  They were just a very happy sounding band to me.

    Hello Super Lux,
This can all depend on which genre you are mostly interested in.
It also depends on the content in which the artist is singing about.
I can recommend a few personal choices you may like.

    Xavier Rudd: Light the Shade
    Ziggy Marley: True to Myself
    Trevor Hall: Brand New Day
Thomas Cunningham & The Locofocos: Swell
The John Butler Trio: Better Than
    Ted Lennon: Face Up
    Brett Dennen: Blessed
Barefoot Truth: Roll if ya Fall

I could go on and on, (these are a few personal favorites) however, I don't know your taste so I can't answer that question 100%.
If you want to know what is the most uplifting song for me, it would still be a tough one. My musical taste bounces from one artist/genre to the next. I went from listening to acoustic tunes to reggae to hip-hop and even into funk. I think the most important part of an uplifting song is the message.

So for my final answer (if I really had to choose):
Barefoot Truth: Changes in the Weather
It helps me ease my head and be at peace for just a few minutes.
    Thanks

i appreciate the effort darvinbunder. hey no worries, i also don't have a particular genre. i just listen to what i feel like listening to as long as the message is inspiring or funny or which i can relate to.

      thanks a bunch!

For me, it's been "Wind Beneath My Wings" since I first heard the song years ago. Both lyrics and music are uplifting to me.

When you say "music," do you mean the instruments in the background?

A song by Herbie Hancock called 'Don't Worry Be a Happy.' This song is one of the best uplifting songs; it came out in the 1980's. And this song has a nice easy sound, with some humorous words.

I think you might be thinking of "Don't Worry Be Happy" by Bobby McFerrin.

If you are down after a breakup and you are not at fault, "Little Lion Man" by Mumford and Son.  They use the F word a bit in this song, just so you know before hand, give it a listen it is not used in a sexual context.

If you are down just because "It's The End Of The World As We Know It" and "Stand" by REM.

If you are mad, the above mentioned two songs, "Love Shack" by the B-52's, and Baha Men "Who Let The Dogs Out".

Other random songs "La Copa De La Vida" - Ricky Martin, "We Like To Party"-
Vengaboys, "I Like It"-Enrique Iglesias (featuring Pitbull), and "Back In Time"-Men In Black III soundtrack ( sung by Pitbull).

Anything James Brown puts me in a good mood. Bob Marley songs are uplifting too, especially Jammin.

Uplifting can be interpretated in so many difference ways. If you admire someone then the song that would uplift you and make you go get them would be totally different to a song that made you feel energetic.

Music is so powerful, it's all about the vibrations and energy which effects our body. Wow i'm listening to some great songs now.

    Thanks for this question!

For me, the "best uplifting song" is the theme song for the film "Rocky" -- "Gonna Fly Now."

If it's ska music, then it's uplifting to me! smile
There's nothing more uplifting to me than a great horn section and an energetic sound.

Reggae, the successor to ska, is okay but puts me in more of a "calm" mood.
