Why does popular opinion worship celebrities instead of REAL people who effect their actual lives?
Because we all secretly yearn to be recognized and famous ourselves. Not to mention celebrities are involved in all the media we consume: tv, radio, Internet, magazines, books...even sometimes the food we eat! It's hard to escape plus the media worship of them won't let us. While I do find some escapism into tv and movies is good, the obsession that people get with some celebrities is beyond unhealthy.
