What if we never or hardly ever watched television?

How would our thoughts, perspectives, opinions, and conclusions we draw on a daily basis be affected?  There is so much "reality tv" on now that it seems to me our views are narrowed about a lot of things as a result. What do you think?

I don't have television and haven't had one for maybe 15 years. I am glad I don't feel I have to watch reality TV. With the internet and the radio, I don't miss out on the news and I can choose my own entertainment, rather than watching what other people think would be interesting. I certainly don't miss all the advertising breaks!

Reading is a great way of finding out what others think.

Wow, I don't think most people can say that.  We have decided to get rid of some televisions in our house.  We do have 2, but we rarely watch them, unless we are watching a movie together as a family, a little sports and occasional news/weather.

I agree.  Reality TV has made a lot of experts out of people who have simply watched shows.  As an example, now it seems everyone expects huge numbers in weight loss and if you only lose a pound or two a week then you are not working hard enough.  Is the show Biggest Loser to blame?  I think so to some extent.

I for one would be very happy if my televisison got disconnected for a while...tired of the scams and chaos all around.

I know it.  It is stressful watching most television shows.  Every time we lose power, I feel like we gain something else - quality family time.  That must be one of the reasons why people go camping.
