How much money does a photographer make in a year?
I am not talking about outliers like Herb Ritts or Dick Avedon (when he was alive), for example. My criteria is that it should be enough to support a spouse, especially if the spouse does not work. I've made the transition almost fully to shooting but will still take on some multimedia projects. One of my colleagues whose production company I started working for is making $342,087.42. But I'm working UNDER him. :-(
One AP photographer told me he makes $60,000 (I'm shocked). Anyway, tell me what type of photography you or someone you heard of is doing and about what they charge or are making.
A photographer for a small newspaper in US might make as little as $30K a year. A wedding photographer can make hundreds of thousands depending on where he/she works. We paid $3,000 for a single wedding recently. The photographer worked about 8 hours.
