Penny Dreadful: brilliant, dark, creepy. I'd watch Eva Green in anything. I just watched the first episode of season 2 on YouTube, and loved it.

Salem: cheesy, poorly acted, and historically fuzzy. I don't miss it, and I'm not eagerly awaiting a new season. Meh.

I've never heard of A Haunting.

I agree with Lisa Vollrath. Penny Dreadful is a fantastic television series. And Eva Green has such a powerful, dynamic, charismatic presence---perhaps the Marlena Dietrich of her era.

I love the way Penny combines all of the nineteenth century dark tales: Picture of Dorian Gray; Frankenstein (the creature is the most urbane, sophisticated iteration yet); the wolf man; witches; and who knows what else is coming up?

I think Penny Dreadful is truly something special and unique. I don't know about Salem and A Haunting.
