What is the term for a television show that isn't a sitcom, but focuses on an ongoing narrative?
In a sitcom (Example: Friends), the characters never change and the episodes are structured similarly. How would you explain a show like "LOST" where the story is one continuous storyline? Would is be a serialized drama?
More often than not it's just called a dramatic TV series.
In other instances you have shows like "Empire" or "Dallas" and "Dynasty" which are considered more like night time soaps.
