Is batman v superman dawn of justice deserving of the hate it's received?

While the dceu has certainly yet to find solid footing, does there still look to be potential for the  universe it's trying to establish?

BvS wasn't great but it wasn't the train wreck I'd been led to expect either. DC's problem is that rather than let their film "universe" develop gradually they're trying to cram too much into the films so they can "catch up" to Marvel.

I hear you but one could also state there's been many more Batman and Superman movies made than there are Thor, Captain America, Hulk, & Iron Man movies.
Even now DC had Man of Steel, BVS, Suicide Squad, and Wonder Woman before Justice League.

I fully agree with what you've said. B v s felt incredibly bloated and at times felt so focused with building towards its larger universe ie the justice league and ended up losing focus on itself. For all the movies glaring flaws , it's primary one being it felt incredibly disjointed I did still quite like it it's just I wanted to love it but just couldn't! The ultimate cut is a definite improvement at least it fills in some of the gaps.

I haven't seen the "Ultimate Cut" but I plan to.
Others have also stated it fills in the gaps.
However the biggest complaint I heard about BVS was it was not "fun" and the heroes were "too serious" lacking any real humor, too much death..etc

    In a word: "No".
Truth be told the minute the movie was announced along with the casting of Ben Affleck as Batman many people were slamming the movie before it was even made!
Once it was released it was being compared to the "Avengers" movies. A more fair comparison would be between the "Justice League" movies which feature several heroes like the "Avenger" movies.
Having said that if someone really LOVES the world of Marvel they're probably not going to enjoy many DC Comic movies.
There's been more emphasis for them to be "cool" for lack of better word than they are designed to be "fun".
There's rarely any self deprecating humor among DC Comic heroes in this era of film making.
Batman movies especially the ones made Christopher Nolan weren't known for a lot of daylight action or filled with humorous moments.
Even Tim Burton's vision of Batman was mostly filmed under the cover of night skies.
If threw a party I'd rather have the Marvel heroes over!
Their funny banter between themselves keeps things light.
Nevertheless I think there is room for the angry, flawed, or psychologically tormented hero who doesn't crack jokes while fighting the bad guys.
Although recent clips of the new "Justice League" movie indicates Warner Brothers plans to infuse more humor into these movies my hope is they will not simply copy Marvel's formula.
I personally prefer two alternative universes!
"Batman VS Superman: Dawn of Justice" did exactly what it was meant to do and that's set up the "Justice League" universe.
