   I would have to say Bart...He kind of 'spices' up the show. Without him, you have Homer messin' up all the time and Lisa explaining the moral/ethical reason why it was wrong.

    By the way, Joey Joe Joe wasn't much of a character. The joke made for one of the best Simpson's episode of all time, but crying out after somebody slams your name isn't exactly the most awesome character.

       I used to play a LOT of Simpsons 20 Questions with friends back in the day...and one time, we were playing and it went like this:
       
       Is it a man?
       Yes
       Is he yellow?
       Yes
       Has he been in more than one episode?
       No
       JOEY JOE JOE JUNIOR SHABADU!!!!
       
       Three questions...he quickly became a group favorite just because of his general obscurity and that one hilarious moment.
