When are rings too big? Rock or Ring - or Both?

With Elizabeth Taylor's passing, I had the chance to view an old clip of her wearing one of her rocks.

I knew 69 carats was large but when is a ring a rock?  Can a ring be both a rock and a ring?

I was astonished, the "ring" she was wearing was larger than a tennis ball, smaller than a baseball but wow!

Is it ever possible to have too much bling?

Diana's ring was 18 carats and yet I thought very lovely.  I thought that size was enormous but 69 carats!  Give me a break!

A lot of people who have the money will show it with jewelry. Diamonds, though beautiful, are nothing special. They are just shiny and pretty chunks of the earth, just like jade, gold and jet. It's up to the individual to decide what is or is not too big. I like jewelry, but I'm more than content with a two dollar necklace.
