Floors need scrubbing? Strap sponges to your feat and dance.
Oh, and singing, that almost always works.
In my humble opinion
What I always found worked in my house when the kids were younger were lists. On Saturday mornings, the kids would wake up and each would have a list of chores next to their cereal. Rule was that no one could leave the house until all of the things on their list were done. The older kids would help the younger kids, and there was never any fighting or backtalk.

What time do your children go to bed? How long do they sleep? What about naps? I've read that my younger children who are 5 and 7 should sleep for 12-14 hours and that my 12 year old should be sleeping about 10 hours per night. The younger two go to bed around 8 and get up about 12 hours later but...

Do you believe the younger generations are getting worse and worse nowadays?Interpret this question as you wish. Generally I am thinking about attitude and behavior. It seems to me that many people DO feel that youth are getting worse in this regard.
