As a small child I thought I could just run anybody over, and I tried again and again...and my mom stuck to her guns for years to prove me wrong and instill in me the appropriate ways to interact with those around me. I shudder to think what kind of person I might be now if she'd just gone the "easy route" and ignored my behavior or ever gave in to it.
