I am a full time mother of two and try to be as available to them as I can be. On the rare occasion that there is a scheduling overlap, I truely only feel 100% safe leaving them with my family...and then, only the chosen few of them. I am fortunate to have a large family in close proximity to us, so this works well for our family. I know them... their limitations and motivations. I never have to question their heart or their intentions toward my children...which, sadly, is part of the world we live in. No regulatory agency can account for the hidden nature of an individual's character. I am always confident in my choice ~ and in my world, peace of mind trumps an open-mind...on this issue.

Would you allow your child to date someone 10 years older than her/him?I have a friend who has a 16 year old daughter who is currently dating 26 year old guy. If you're the parent, would you allow this?

Do you believe in the adage, "It takes a village to raise a child"? This is an African proverb that has helped shaped societies in time past. But could it work in this time and age? Will you apply this ancient truth in raising your child today?
