How does one deal with depressed parents?
How do you keep yourself upbeat and happy?
Ugh...my mom claims she "happy" when in fact a lot of times all she does is complain. I live an hour away from her and only visit every other week. When we speak on the phone and she's in one of her moods I always tell her that my food is ready and I've got to go!! I do at times try to talk her down so that she feels better about things, but sometimes I just don't want to listen to her rants. I make it a point to not buy into whatever her issue might be and when I hang up, I take a deep breath and move on.
i think parents, especially mothers, are a special breed. once i called my mother after not talking to her for 2 weeks (same reason as moon's), she said hello, i said hello and she yelled to my dad "it's your son! he's not dead!"
mom was a charmer.
if you can slip her about 50 mg. of zoloft daily, you might like the change.
