When do you know your child is ready for a toddler bed?
Changing from a cot to a bed.
We knew for our oldest because she was climbing out of the baby bed and starting to be unsafe in there. For my middle girl, it was really a matter of when we were ready. She got to the point where it was harder to get her in and out of the baby bed so we moved her.
When they stay in bed and don't wander around the house. If your child sleeps well throughout the night with a few understandable exceptions, then a toddler bed would be great.
If they are in danger in a baby bed of falling out they need a toddler bed but often they could be in great danger being able to roam around unsupervised while parents sleep so there should be a safety gate put across the door of the room they sleep in.
I've heard it's a good idea to pack up the crib simultaneously with potty training so they can get out to go potty if they need to.
