What is the most important thing that our kids teach us?
If you had to choose just one thing that your kids have taught you what would that be?
The most important thing that is your kids have taught you?
Great question! I would say my kids taught me about love. I mean real, unconditional love. They have given it back to me after parenting them with love all their growing years. They are adults now, and that love is something I'll always cherish.
For me, it has to be humility. There is nothing as important OR as powerful for a parent to admit to their own child that they were wrong and then to ask that child for their forgiveness. Kids need to see that mistakes can be made but they also need to be owned and dealt with in a healthy manner.
My child taught me to be honest and trustworthy. I cannot role model a good life unless I live it as an example of what is right and wrong. Accepting my mistakes and apologizing is humbling but it also teaches a child that honesty is a virtue respected.
To look at life again with fresh, innocent eyes. I can better appreciate the present and see wonderful things in small moments that I might have otherwise overlooked or rushed past. Super question!
