Have you ever laughed at your parent and not got into trouble for it?

Have you ever seen your parent do something funny and laughed at them? Did you get into trouble for it? (For example: My dad was fishing one day. He decided to sit on a bucket that was tilted slightly on the embankment. The bucket tipped over and spilt him into the lake. We couldn't help but laugh, as he came up sputtering.)

You should have told your dad about the tilt ... frankly, If I saw it ... I would have corrected the bucket's angle ... anyway, kids would be kids.

But in principle ... The Culture ... I belong to ... does not allow kids to misbehave with the Parents in any manner ...

Laughing at a parent's "oversight" who apparently was preoccupied with watching out for your safety as he taught you fishing ... is ridiculing ...

Ridiculing the parents in any manner, is a gross misbehavior in our Society.

Our Culture is not at all a drab, monotonous, long faced peoples composed Culture, we share laughter "with" our parents ... we share jokes ... and reprimanded for misbehavior ... like the kids in any normal Society ...

    But Pranks are out.

One of my friend who had once suffered hurt at the hands of his father for laughing at him over a minor issue at home  could not get over from the impact of hurting by his father. As a result,  he always used to say nasty things to his younger brother and sister. Whenever they tried to please him but they have had  enough abuse  from him. The problem could be  resolved only when he was taken to a therapist.

    Hi Tipoague-

But did your dad catch a fish in his pants?  Did his fishing license cover such a catch?

I was blessed to be in a family with a razor sharp sense of humor..  If no one got hurt and the laughter was not malicious or derisive, pretty much anything was fair game.

When people have complete confidence in the love and trust of their family members, a chuckle or even a belly laugh was not just tolerated but encouraged.

Humor is an integral component in a loving and supportive relationship.
