How do you instill confidence in your children when their confidence is currently low?
You have to help them build confidence by constantly reassuring them that they can get the task done, even when it seems tough. Sometimes you yourself have to perform some of these little tasks, if possible, just to help motivate them.
Have them make a list of the things that they do well. Gently remind them that if they do not try new things, they will never know whether or not they will be good at them. Ask them to think of something they may not have done well when they were younger, but now do, then ask them why they think they improved. This will get them thinking about how practice helps improve performance. You could also encourage them to choose activities that play upon their strengths.
