    Desensitization means that if we see or hear something very often, we begin to think it's normal and stop caring or being offended by it.  Sometimes, the news, television shows, and video games focus so much on violence or other offensive behavior that, if we spend too much time watching them, we begin to think it is normal and acceptable, even if it is not.  We need to be avoid exposure to anything that makes us stop caring about other people.
