How to deal with difficult questions asked by children?
I am aware that 'difficulty' is a relative concept. I find it difficult when my 6 year old son asks questions on something, the answers to which would eventually lead to issues of 'sex', 'marriage' and so on. How do people generally deal with such questions that emerge in tiny minds? Please answer if you have experience in dealing with such questions raised by children.
It really depends on their age and the subject matter. I don't see anything wrong with telling your child that they are too young to be asking certain things. At times no answer is the best answer.
Sometimes it is difficult depending on the setting. Now I am a senior citizen so there is not much that I mind answering when asked.
However, when I was a 25 year old teacher 40 years ago, and was asked during a sex ed class our sixth graders were having....'does it hurt?" Difficulty would be putting it mildly. Sweat poured, heart raced, eyes big as saucers, o, my. I wanted to run. I avoided answering as long as possible. Fianlly I HAD to acknowledge that young man and the question. He simply wanted to know, if it hurt when you have a baby.
I sighed a sigh of relief and answered.
