Can one be an amazing mom and a great business/powerful woman at the same time?
Or one excludes the other?
Do you think a dad can be an amazing parent and also a powerful person in business? The question posed is one I find somewhat troubling with a hint of a double standard. Why would you ask a question regarding a mother and exclude the father in the same equation? I grew up in the 1950's and 1960's and back then when most moms were home baking cookies, my mother ran a plumbing and heating supply company. She drove a company car and worked 5 1/2 days per week. My parents and I dined out twice per week. One evening per week was spent with just my mother as we traveled to our downtown district for my music lesson and then a dinner with just the two of us. We had splendid vacations and a lovely home filled with love. She kept a watchful eye on me, but also gave me a value structure that many of my peers didn't have. Being a good parent has absolutely nothing to do with work or a career. A good parent is how a child is raised and the lessons they are taught. Working outside of the home has nothing to do with any of that.
Yes, of course. It is just the matter of what other person to see that.
Why not?
I do not see any reason to have all in one sort of person. My wife is an amazing mom as well as a powerful woman in business.
Yes...I suppose, in theory, but it isn't likely.
How can one be an "amazing mom" when she is physically unavailable for her children and husband for a good chunk of the day? How can she be an amazing mom when her attention is somewhere other than her family and she is mentally and emotionally unavailable for hours each day? And, if "supermom" is able to focus on her family and whistle while she works, how is she able to focus on the job at hand?
If Daycare is involved...is that good parenting, too?
I'm not trying to be judgmental here, I just have never seen it happen. Either the career hits the skids or the husband and children do. Often times they all tank.
Wow...if I am not mistaken, this is the first time I have ever been chosen for "best answer". I am humbled. :0)
