How do I get my 2yr old to take an antibiotics?

She is spitting it out every single time.  Is there a trick or something I can do to get her to take it.  Any advice would be fantastic.

Could you mix it in with some juice that she likes? Of course, I would ask the doctor or pharmacist to make sure that it won't cause any problems. My daughter always thought it was a sweet treat. So, I didn't have that problem. Best of luck! ~ fitmom

Depends on the type. Amoxillin most kids like because it's fruity. Not all will, though. When I have something my little ones won't take, I mix it with applesauce. I learned that trick when working in a nursing home, it masks quite a few flavors.

Applesauce worked last night.  I hope she goes for it again today.  Thanks for the idea.

We had the same problem. Then we got firm.  Told her she had to take it but as soon as she did, she would get a popsicle. And we had the medicine dropper in one hand and the popsicle in the other and she took it like a champ.

Please understand this was after we tried reasoning, mixing it with everything under the sun.  Told the doc she wouldn't take it and his response was simple - you're the parents. She needs to take it.

Oh?  So we took a firm stance and it worked.

We have tried that with a sucker.  She is just being difficult.  I guess what everyone is saying is, "Man up and power through."  Thanks for the comment.

Many pharmacies will flavor liquid antibiotics for a small charge.  I know that CVS does this.
