Your choice of meat or vegie stuffed ravioli. Either way, this dish is filling and very satisfying. Serve with a crisp green salad and garlic bread. Yum!

Did you know?

March 20th is National Ravioli Day.

What is Ravioli?

Ravioli is the plural of raviolo - a type of filled pasta, shaped like a square from the traditional Italian cuisine.

Ingredients:

  • 1 bag (500 grams) Ravioli, Fresh or Frozen
  • 1 jar Marinara Sauce
  • 1 bag Mozzarella Cheese, Shredded
  • Parmesan Cheese, Powder or Fresh

Procedures:

  1. Heat oven to 400°F (if using frozen ravioli) or 350°F (if using fresh ravioli). Spray bottom and sides of a rectangular baking dish with cooking spray. Note: I used coconut spray but you can also use the regular spray.
  2. Cover the bottom of the dish with your first layer of marinara sauce. Top it with ravioli (single layer) and top it again with marinara sauce and spread over mozzarella cheese. Repeat layering and finish it off with mozzarella toppings and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
  3. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for around half an hour (add extra 10 minutes if using frozen ravioli). Remove foil; continue baking uncovered for another 10 to 15 minutes more or until cheese is bubbly and a bit rustic on the side.
  4. Remove from the oven and let stand for another 5 to 10 minutes before serving.

Enjoy!

Spicy or Not?

I'm surprised this dish is so low in calories and fat! I love ravioli, but never thought to make a casserole of it. Kinda like lasagna, but less time consuming.

A great recipe with not too many ingredients. I used to love the spicy flavour, but my tummy no longer welcomes that. However, your photos are great and it looks good.

bravewarrior: It is indeed indeed low in calories specially because I used the mushroom stuffed ravioli plus other stuff that are low in calories. And yes Sha, you are right, it is more like lasagna but less time to prepare plus actually more fun to do. I like the part where I have to put the ravioli in lines and arranged them like I'm putting the puzzles together. :) I hope you had a great New Year celebration and I wish you abundance in health and in wealth. Love from the sky~

Eric: ...and your cute son could help you put the ravioli like putting pieces of the puzzles together. That's how I always feel whenever I prepare this meal. Fun! :)

I recall when I was 19, I got into some heavy duty gourmet cooking, ad made some ravioli from scratch. Oh, that was the best, with fresh parsley in the ricotta and parmesan cheese mix. I can actually STILL taste it… Think I'd better get out my gluten free flour again.
