Easy Biscuits with Sausage Gravy
Easy, delicious, and cost effective! Biscuits and gravy are a favorite breakfast choice. Divide it down for smaller portions, double it for more - make an extra big batch and freeze some for time saving breakfasts to come!
If you're looking for something new to add to your morning breakfast menu - Biscuits with Sausage Gravy fits the bill without breaking your wallet.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup Butter (or margerine)
1/4 cup Flour
4 cups milk
Salt & Pepper (to taste)
1 lb. ground sausage (cooked/browned)
8 biscuits (choose your favorite style)
Instructions:
- Brown your sausage, drain & set aside
- Melt butter in a large, deep sauce pan or pot
- Once the butter has melted, add the flour & whisk until blended
- Add milk - whisk until blended. Stir periodically as it thickens
- Add salt & pepper to taste
- Add sausage
- Remove from heat and allow a few minutes to cool and thicken
- split biscuits down the middle and spread open-faced on plate
- scoop sausage gravy over biscuits & serve hot!
Tips & Hints:
- Out of butter? Save the drippings from the sausage. (it isn't the healthiest choice but it does add flavor & it works!)
- Save money on milk - powdered milk is less expensive & makes a delicious gravy! ( I won't use anything else for my white gravy)
- Biscuits: make your own from scratch, or use the ones from the refrigerated cylinder containers. Bread/toast also works in a pinch if you just can't get a hold of any biscuits.
