How To Make Caramel Apples
Directions On What To Do
Caramel Apples has been one of my all time favorite treats especially close to Halloween. I wanted to share my recipe with you so you can make your own homemade caramel apples anytime of the year. Here is the recipe I hope you enjoy and have fun making these delicious caramel apples.
You will need 8 to 10 medium sized apples. Wash and dry and then chill them in the fridge for a little while.
Insert a sturdy wooden skewer into the stem end of each apple.
In a 2 quart size sauce pan mix together the following ingredients:
2 cups of sugar
1 cup of brown sugar
2/3 cup white corn syrup
2/3 cup butter
1 cup of cream
1 tsp. of salt
2 tsp. of vanilla extract
Cook mixture to 246 degrees( You can test by dropping a small amount into cold water, it should form a ball) stir constantly towards the end to prevent it from scorching. Remove from heat. Cool mixture until it thickens slightly. Quickly dip each apple into the caramel mixture, twist apple around in the mixture until it's evenly coated on all sides. After caramel if desired you can also dip apple into nuts or m&m's Drain on waxed paper. Let cool and place in fridge until chilled. When chilled eat and enjoy this wonderful treat.
