Rohu fish or the Rui Mach is a regular diet of most of Bengali Families. Most of Bengalis never think their days without fishes.This fish is easily available with affordable price in Bengal Market. Besides, I am a Bengali, I am not fond of Fish. But when mom said about this dish, I found it quite interesting because of its making procedure. This is a Bangladeshi Dish. I tried this first time and really well in taste. Sweet Polau is the perfect dish with which Mahi Kalia goes.

What you need :
- 4 piece Rohu Fish
- 3 medium size Onion, Chopped
- 2 tbsp garlic, Julian Chopped
- 1 tbsp Ginger paste
- 2 tbsp Turmeric powder
- 3-4 tbsp Rice Powder
- 2 tbsp Red Chilli Powder
- 2 tbsp Bleck Pepper paste
- 2 tbsp All pourpose flour
- 2 tbsp Mouri Masala, Powder
- As per taste Salt & Sugar
- 1 Lemon
- 2 tbsp Cumin Paste
How to Prepare:
- Marinate the fish with Mouri Masala powder, all purpose flour and lemon juice.
- Wash the fish well with water after 10-15 mins
- In a pan, pour 2 tbsp oil and add the half onion, and fried until crispy and golden brown i.e. Beresta.Keep them aside.
- Again marinate the fish with ginger, black pepper, salt,turmeric,cumin paste.Keep them aside for half an hour.
- In a pan, pour oil and add chopped onion and rest of ginger paste.Saute for sometime.Add the fish.cook for sometime with cover.Turn around the fish mean while.
- In a seperate pan, add oil and put the julian size chopped garlic,fried well and add the Beresta and rice power.Mix well, made a gravy.
- Now put the gravy over the fish.add salt and sugar as per your taste.If needed add some water.Cook for sometime.
- Add lemon juice over the Fish.Your Mahi Kalia is Ready to serve.Serve with Sweet Polau or Plain Rice.
