What Do You Want To Eat For Lunch?

First of all what do you feel like eating? Every day is different and you may want to eat different kinds of foods on certain days. For example, what you eat varies in hot and cold weather and also depends on what time of day it is and how hungry you are.

You may only want to eat a light meal at lunch or sone prefer a heavier more filling lunch meal. There are so many different options on what dishes to eat for lunch that it really depends on what you feel like eating and what your budget is.

Lunch may be a social event, a business lunch, a lunch with family or friends or a family lunch at home.

What you eat and how you eat your lunch depends on who you're with and where you're going!

Fast food is a lot more health conscious nowadays and you can get low fat options for most fast food dishes. For example, MacDonalds lists the nutritional values in their burgers and Chicken and Chips are usually cooked in vegetable oil.

You may like to opt for a counter meal, for example Yo Sushi has sushi on the go. You just choose your plate and then count the plates for the price.

Here is a list of ideas for lunch dishes and meals:

  • Steak, Chips, Salad
  • Spaghetti Bolognese
  • Pizza and Salad
  • Cheese Pasta with Salad
  • Sweet and Sour Chicken with Rice
  • Mixed Noodles with Vegetables, Beef, or Prawns
  • Chicken Curry with Rice
  • Burger and Chips
  • Fish, Chips and Salad
  • Kebab, with salad and chips

You can make all these dishes yourself or buy them ready made from a local restaurant or take away.

Go to an Indian, Chinese, Italian, Lebanese restaurant and eat in or use their take away menu. See what you prefer as many restaurants have special lunch time deals which include a drink as well.

You can also opt to go to a fast food place like McDonalds, KFC, or Burger King and get a take away or eat in.

And there are also a lot of Chinese, Indian and Italian Pizza restaurants which serve daytime buffets for an all inclusive special price. Sometimes these are a good option for a lunch out with work mates or friends as you can choose from so many different types of dishes and eat as much as you want.

Chines Noodles with Chicken, Bamboo Shoots and Mushrooms

Prep time: 10 min
Cook time: 10 min
Ready in: 20 min
Yields: Serves 4 people

Ingredients For Chinese Chicken Noodles

  • 1 Red Peppers, chopped in thin pieces
  • 1 Green Peppers, chopped in thin pieces
  • 1 Onion, chopped
  • 3 cups Bamboo Shoots
  • 2 cups Mushrooms, chopped in slices
  • 2-4 Chicken breasts, in small strips
  • 1/2 packet Noodles, ready for boiling
  • 4 teaspoons Soya Sauce

How to make your noodles

  1. Add red peppers, green peppers and onions to a frying pan with sesame or sunflower oil and fry until tender - about 8 minutes
  2. After 4 minutes add the mushrooms and chicken and after 6 minutes add the bamboo shoots
  3. Add the soya sauce
  4. Add the noodles to boiling water and boil for 2 minutes then simmer for another 3 minutes
  5. Transfer the noodles to the frying pan and mix everything together adding some more oil and soya sauce to taste
