    Caliente is the Spanish spelling for hot, never mind what spell check says.

    They keep saying my answer is too short; but CALIENTE means hot in Spanish

    If it's in reference to temperature, I would say, "caliente".  If you are indicating that it's hot outside, you would say, "Hace calor." 

    However, with food, you would use "picoso" or "picosa", depending on the noun for the particular food.  You might also use picante.

    What is the context?
