Why people eat junk food?

It has high fat content and we (generally) have a natural craving for fatty foods. It is also very easy to purchase and relatively cheap. We like to eat junk food because we think the unhealthy foods taste better. Why have a carrot when you can have a chocolate bar with marshmellows and peanuts. There is no competition there.
