In English speaking U.S.A why do french fries accompany the Hamburger instead of English Chips?
Fish and chips are English. Succulent Cod Fillets in the embrace of a lovely crispy crust accompanied by thickly cut crispy Chips. How come french fries are served with Burgers instead of English Chips?
Chips or certainly wedges are larger. Fish n Chips is though - an English dish, Harry Ramsdens made them hugely well known but since being taken over a few years ago they now fail...
Maybe because french fries are an "American innovation"? Just a guess
Americans have decided to use the word Chips for Crisps and French Fries for Chips.
They have to do everything differently. Couldn't accept Cricket, Rugby and Football so instead that have Baseball and American Football.
