    Why are sushi chefs nearly all male?

    I don't know how it is in Japan but I've observed this in the United States. I say "nearly" because every once in awhile people do see a woman working behind the sushi counter. For me, it's only been once.

    I don't often eat sushi, but Friday night a friend of mine whom I haven't seen in a while, and who happens to work at a sushi bar, stopped by after work with some sushi. I didn't care for raw squid but I really enjoyed the raw swordfish and tilapia dipped in the spicy soy-based dipping sauce. Great experience! I don't actually have an answer to the question asked! Just wanted to share my experience.
