Is it ok to have beer or wine when you are recovering from a bone fracture?
a friend of mine had a leg fracture in feb this year and is gradually recovering from it. we have an occasion to celebrate and we are planning for some alcohol in the party, is it ok for him?
If your friend only has one beer or one glass of wine, he should be more than fine. The main idea is that he doesn't drink a bunch because of any pain medications or other pharma he might be on. A little bit of alcohol won't hurt. If he can keep it in moderation, he'll be fine.
I would make sure there are plenty of non-alcoholic beverages on hand though and that he isn't the only one having some of them. It will help keep the "peer pressure" down.
Check the medications first. Drinking while having a broken or fractured bone is fine. However, most med's are highly sensative to alcohol. Go to google, type in his medications, and write down what they are for and how they respond to alcohol.
