A pound cake is made traditionally with a pound of each four ingredients: flour, butter, eggs and sugar. Also any cakes made with a ratio 188.8.131.52 of flour, butter, eggs, and sugar is called a pound cake even if the quantity is smaller or larger than an actual pound.
