How Do You Deal With Food Allergies?
What should you do if you have food allergies? Is there a cure for food allergies? What is the best advice when dealing with food allergies?
I am allergic to pineapple and to something in sushi. I'm not sure what it is, but my throat gets itchy. So I try to avoid both. That is what I do. However, if you don't know exactly what you are allergic to, you should probably see a doctor to take an allergy test. That can pinpoint what exactly you are allergic to so that you can either avoid those foods. If it is not possible to avoid those foods, then you might want to have an Epi (Epinephrine) emergency pen with you in case you find you are having an allergic reaction to foods. Good luck!
Getting tested is a good idea. When you have a reaction, it may be to something different than you think it is.
At one point, I thought that I was allergic to grass because I sneezed everytime the lawn was mowed.Once I was tested, I found out that I was find with grass, but reacted to the pollen from trees, which was kicked up when they mowed the lawn it had fallen on.
I have horrible food allergies. If I ignore them I could end up in the hospital.
My mom is allergic to cinnamon, gluten and shellfish. My mother and I both are allergic to Iodine.
My husband has a milk allergy, not lactose intolerance. If milk touches his skin he has a reaction. Ingesting it gives him asthama attack like symptoms.
My room mate cannot eat anything with a cell wall. No fruit no vegatables, he can basically eat meat, potatoes and pasta/rice.
His daughter is allergic to teriyaki sauce. So imagine trying to cook sometimes! lol. It has been a challenge, I almost feel like I need a reality show.
If it is a known food allergy the easiest thing is to stay away from it. Read food lables, google other names for what your allergic to, keep the names on you incase you need to see a lable or menu item at a restaurant has it on their menu. If it is something new you have never tried before, that alllergy test from the Dr isn't half a bad idea either.
There isnt a cure. Sometimes people can grow out of them. But I actually grew INTO mine. When I hit my 20's I had a salad that had mushrooms in it. It was normal, I occasionally got raw mushrooms on salads. I ended up in the hospital. Didn't know what hit me. Now even cream of mushroom soup could kill me. I loved eating fresh strawberries. Now, I can't even touch one without it burning my skin. Eating anything strawberry will close my throat. I'm allergic to other things, but I'll let you assume I just avoid them.
My mother takes Benadryl before eating seafood. Sometimes that works, sometimes she still gets head aches, and other reactions. I'm allergic to Benadryl so I can't try that method. And pills, no matter what a Dr says, will not cure you. It numbs your body from the reaction, but it is not a cure.

Do you have a food allergy? It seems like more and more people are allergic to specific foods. This year, the schools in my county are no longer allowing any food to be brought in to the schools by parents (for birthdays, holidays, etc.) which is a relief, as the past couple of years I have...

After the holidays I am going to go Gluten Free and Dairy Free to find out which I'm allergic to, and perhaps move on from there. I have done the Gluten free thing, which is not terribly difficult for me. I have mostly gone dairy free, but I'm not strict on it, and am rather partial to cheese,...

What could cause this on my daughter when nothing she's had is new?The doctors and hospital can not figure it out. They simply told me to not come back unless she started struggling to breathe. They got much worse than this picture yesterday. The hospital gave her steroid shot and benadryl and sent...
