Should I tip when I am ordering take out food and I pick it up?
Is a tip required if I am picking up the food and not having it delivered and not eating in the restaurant?
My understanding is tips are shared between wait staff and the kitchen, so will the kitchen lose out as they did work and the wait staff didn't?
Having never worked in the food industry, I do not know how tips are divided among restaurant staff; however, when I order out I always leave a tip. The tip is not the usual 15% or 18% standard but enough to say that I appreciate the job they did cooking my food, even if they did not have to serve and wait on me.
I usually leave $1 to $2 when I order take out and pick up since I am friendly with staff. I think it would depend how often you go and how you were treated.

Should you tip at a buffet, fast food restaurant or coffee shop?A recent question asked 'when dining out at a restaurant, how much of a tip do you leave?' Waiters and waitresses are usually paid less than minimum wage so they depend on tips. What about employees that are paid at least...

Do you give a tip if the service is bad?I can't bring myself to not leave a tip even when I've gotten lousy service. I think perhaps they are having a bad day, things are happening in their life they can't control or perhaps if I leave them a tip they will give the next person better service.
